Alexander George Karras is an American football player, professional wrestler, athlete and actor. He played four times in the Pro Bowl with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League, where he played from 1958 to 1970. As an actor, Karras played Mongo in the 1974 comedy Blazing Saddles. He played the role of George Papadopolis, Webster Long's adoptive father, in the ABC Webster sitcom with his wife Susan Clark. Karras also starred in Victor / Victoria, alongside Julie Andrews and James Garner. He was a member of the College Football Fame Hall of Fame and was elected to the Professional Football Fame Hall in the Centennial Class.
