Kevin McHale & Jenna Ushkowitz Talk Glee & Podcast Revival (Exclusive) Celeb Secrets
Former Glee co-stars Kevin McHale, and Jenna Ushkowitz took to the red carpet of the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Festival to talk about their new podcast, “And That’s What You Really Missed,” as well as the recent popularity boost of Glee thanks in part to the musical-comedy being available on Disney+.
McHale, known for his role as “Artie Abrams,” and Ushkowtiz, known for her role as “Tina Cohen-Chang” on the FOX hit, are working together again on a podcast that initially debuted in 2020. However, after the death of their former co-star Naya Rivera in July of 2020, the two decided to put the podcast on hiatus out of respect for the late Rivera.

“People seem really thankful, I think for us we didn’t necessarily realize how much people listen to it or like when we did it originally and so it makes us even more excited to get back into it”, McHale told Celeb Secrets reporter Juliet Schroder backstage at the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Festival last month.
A noticeable change in this revival is that the podcast’s name is different as it used to be “Showmance: The Glee Recap Edition” and now is called “And That’s What You Really Missed.” McHale and Ushkowitz will be recapping and giving their thoughts on each episode of Glee.

The recent rise in popularity of the show is due mainly to the fact that it is available to watch on Disney+, which is arguably the most popular streaming service right now. When speaking of the show’s resurgence, Ushkowitz said, “It was a moment in time but to see it actually kind of be revived in 2022 is also really cool that people are still responding to it.”
So, combining the Glee world with the Disney world has been a big hit for both sides; another reason why its popularity is increasing could also be due to Lea Michele’s role as “Fanny Brice” on Funny Girl on Broadway; Michele’s character on Glee, “Rachel Berry” famously played Fanny Brice on the hit show.
